abled people talking about mobility aids: "oh heavens, he'll be forced to use a cane, or a walker... or worse, a chair! anything but that!"
disabled people getting mobility aids for the first time, literally every single time: "oh my God I wish I had gotten one of these sooner, this is so much easier, now I can do more things, I think I will go for a walk around the park now that I can go that kind of distance again"
a lesbian: idk she just doesnt seem interested :/
someone: did u like, talk to her
a lesbian:
a lesbian: do what
gender to me is like a car i dont really want one and society would be much better if it was not structured around it. but i got one because it helps me get around and sometimes its fun to make it go fast
I love house md. it’s gay, its homophobic. it’s ableist, it has some of the best disability representation I’ve seen. medical malpractice and felonies are committed pretty much every episode, some of these aren’t even related to the case. for as bonkers as everything gets it never stops being a medical drama. it a fucking sherlock adaptation
growing up I was always afraid of being Found Out. not sure what I was hiding. just my whole self I guess
so who else gets irrationally afraid and embarrassed about their interests being known to people in real life
I call this “residual anxiety from being bullied for everything that made me even slightly unusual every day in junior high.”
actually. if i could be a bit of a jerk for a second? i often see a lot of posts that describe dariax as a "comedic fat guy" in the vein of jack black but here's the thing. dariax isn't fat.
that is not a fat guy. he's not even chubby, he's stocky. even compared to orym he's not fat, orym is just slender. but it really does illustrate the backdoor butthole standards that fandoms have towards fat people.
gilmore is so very often drawn thin despite being stated to be fat and depicted as such in official art. yasha is stated to gain weight later on in the series and be extremely muscular but she's always drawn as thin as possible with only the bare minimum of musculature. pumat sol gets next to no art which people often brush off as him having a "silly voice" and a small role, but it's a little suspect given how often he's depicted in official art and matt's cosplay as being fat. veth is chubby and has a double chin in her official art and people insist it "makes no sense" to this day and draw her without it. even in fanart of the real life cast, travis and taliesin who have visible "dad bods" are slimmed down! and um. well. the only character people are actively comfortable drawing as fat on a regular basis is the one who stuffs her face full of donuts. yikes!
my point is that we gotta have more body diversity that isn't weirdly stereotypical or erases canonically fat people. draw essek fat now.
to clarify: i see nothing wrong with people drawing dariax and jester fat; i encourage it. but why is it, specifically, you depict those two characters as fat and nobody else? is it because they're easily milled down to being comic relief in common fandom circles? could you see vax'ildan being fat? or mollymauk? or imogen? just things to think about.
I didn’t miss that social cue I just thought it was stupid
